Great news for the 21+ crowd: Softies, the new burger place in the Village, could soon start selling alcohol. The Korean-inspired smash burger joint won’t say what it plans to pour, but its plans could bring some buzz to an area notoriously short on drinking options.

The Department of Public Safety warned that a man is posing as a building manager to enter homes on the student-heavy Orchard Avenue and 28th Street. Plug this search into our Crime Dashboard to see the incident logs: in:(location) "2600 Block of Orchard" or "1100 Block of 28th" and in:(offense) "trespass"

The government shutdown has led to numerous flight cancellations in Southern California since Friday, including at least 129 at LAX. If you need to fly soon, experts say morning flights are the least likely to get canceled, but the good news is the shutdown appears close to an end.

Early this semester, a Yale freshman made national headlines for gaining admission to the school using a fake identity. A journalist tracked down the Bay Area native to tell the wild story of her time at Yale, including her legal name change, nightmarish roommate habits, and BDSM relationship with an “older boyfriend.”

Parents weekend always produces a trove of internet content, and this year didn’t disappoint. One dad launching himself into a frat crowd and winding up on the ground (alt angle here) was undoubtedly the top video, though luckily its seems like he ended up OK.
