A correction to this morning's newsletter

This morning, we linked to a story that contained at least one substantive factual inaccuracy.

Annenberg Media, which is not affiliated with this newsletter, reported on Thursday that USC professor Berislav Zlokovic offered to “scout” research projects for Jeffrey Epstein’s foundation in 2015 and had earlier accepted funding from the disgraced financier.

But a further review shows that Zlokovic did not offer to “scout” projects in documentation cited by Annenberg Media’s story. Furthermore, the basis of the assertion that Epstein’s foundation funded Zlokovic’s work was a newly unsurfaced press release from 2012.

The neuroscientist previously contested that release, saying that Epstein’s foundation unilaterally and inaccurately stated that it had funded his work.

“We are unaware of any funding received by USC from Jeffrey Epstein or any entity related to him,” USC wrote in a statement Friday.

At the time of this email, Annenberg Media has pulled the story from its website and stated that it is “currently under review by our editorial team.”
